Support the House Proud campaign, making the case for housing
Monday 12 April 2010
The National Housing Federation is encouraging members to support House Proud, a new campaign to shout about housing’s crucial contribution to society in the run up to the election.
Campaign aims
The House Proud Campaign has three aims:
- To encourage 250 backers to sign up to the House Proud petition, to be delivered to the new government
- To ensure each of the three main political parties include a housing pledge in their election manifestos
- To get the sector fighting housing’s corner as the election approaches, make housing a key election issue at every opportunity, and encourage staff, residents, friends and family to do the same.
Federation support
The Federation is happy to support the campaign. National Housing Federation chief executive David Orr has signed the House Proud petition, saying 'There is a real danger that housing will be the silent issue of the election campaign.
‘We cannot allow that to happen. If politicians really want to invest in health and education, create safe places and protect jobs, the first thing to do is to invest in housing. We must ensure that housing's voice is loud and clear.'
